It’s been snowing and raining here so it was nice to do a bit of sunny spellwork for a client for success, achievement, and prosperity. I use tarot cards to customize novena candles to a client’s petition as I’m all about simplicity and using what you have on hand. In this situation I chose the four of wands and the sun from the major arcana and bound them to the candle with red thread.
The sachet is raw yellow silk stuffed with a mix of herbs matching the desires of the petition and then stitched up inside golden felt with orange embroidery. A ritual, an offering, and some words later the candle and sachet were consecrated to their purpose. The sachet is to be tucked in the client’s pocket during the day and under the pillow at night. My sachets are good for a year and then need to be remade.
Now to let the candle burn down…

Gorgeous work, as always! So very bright and lovely! And here we have all this sun and I want the snow!
after 5 days of snow and an ice storm on top of all of it I’d be happy to switch with you! Dreaming of daffodils and this post was just what I needed…
Loverly! I love the little sun embroidery. My kind of magic, this.
How lovely!
nice work

I always love the photos you include with your writing.
<3 They are always inspiring!
Brilliant move with the tarot cards and candle
Great post. I like how you explained your work – general outline but not too many details so as not to mess with the magic. In my mind, I consider this is to be a framework tool. The individual practitioner must use their knowledge to choose the correct herbs, words, etc. Some (unintentional?) guidance but plenty of room for personal growth. Gratzi.
Sachets are a favorite magical item of mine. They combine two loves – sewing and plants. I really like how you personalize the candles. That’s a really great idea. I tend to carve into and dress taper candles, but using cards is rather clever in an obvious sort of way, you know? That’s the Ditzy Druid for you. “Oh duh, why didn’t I think of that?!”
Admirable work. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your stuff in your shop.
The tarot cards are such great idea, I’ll have to try that.
I agree with greycatsidhe. It does seem like such an obvious thing to do.
I guess sometimes we worry about having the exact items that a book lists, forgetting to personalize with things we already have on hand.
Good work! and nice lens!
