Ladies’ Night and Lots of Mead

Last Year's Meads

Last night the girls came over and we had a potluck, a mead tasting, as well as some mead making. One friend bottled her methlegin, another made a new three gallon batch of black currant, and the rest of us added a lot more honey to the two 5 gallon pomegranate-raspberry batches which were getting quite bitter as pomegranate is inclined to do. There was lots of yummy food that was beautifully presented, so of course I forgot to take pictures, but here is the mead we plowed through as well as them all lined up in my dining room bubbling away.

[Krasir] travelled far and wide over the world to teach men wisdom and came once to a feast with some dwarves. These called him aside for a word in private and killed him, letting his blood run into two crocks and one kettle. They mixed his blood with honey and it became the mead which makes whoever drink of it a poet or scholar.”

I also whipped up a batch of ancestor oil for a favourite patron last night and left it outside to sit beneath the moonlight and sunlight. I spend the day sewing amulets and finishing some more altar candles. Tomorrow I’m tackling custom orders and the devil’s club that still needs to be processed for medicines.

Thanks, Sarah. The ancestor oil looks beautiful in the sun and the moonlight, along with your magical touch, will give it the extra punch! All Hallows should be memorable!! You’ve also inspired me to either search out a local maker of fine mead or to start learning how to make it myself! Slainte!!
