The Dragon and the Phoenix

I made this set of matching Dragon and Phoenix prayer beads for my craft teachers who were wed last week. I was unfortunately able to go due to passport issues so I made these lovely prayer beads to show my love complete with the box which I covered in raw red silk. The prayer beads are made with carnelian beads strung on rich red silk and two matching pendants carved out of carnelian, one with a dragon and the second with a phoenix. These two legendary creatures usually are a gift or decoration at traditional Chinese weddings and red is a colour of good luck and is the colour of the bride’s dress in both Chinese and Indian ceremonies. A fitting gift and I’m glad they love them!
