Hare Fetish Skulls

Hand painted hare skulls

I’ve been busy in my workshop the last few days working on the skulls I received in the mail. Today I finished turning the two hare skulls into fetishes. I painted them with ultramarine blue in prehistoric geometric patterns of the Goddess and of water (chevron’s, crescent moons) and one of them is painted with spirals which represent both binding and the cycle of life, death and rebirth. Each hare’s proud ruff is made from cedar bark I harvested from a huge cedar driftwood log that washed up from the sea. Both hare fetishes have white chicken feathers for their ears, and one also has blue jay feathers. I think they are just lovely, I really love the ruffs! My good friend who has a rabbit says a rabbit’s ruff is very important, it makes for a prouder more handsome and dominant rabbit.
